The O’Keefe Rail Trail is a 50KM+ easy bike ride from Bendigo to Heathcote. With a day off work and a beautiful autumn day, I decided to ride from Heathcote to Bendigo.
Parked the car at the Heathcote Visitor Centre and after a couple of coffees we were off on the trail. You can read more about the bike ride and GPS data if that’s what you’re after. The ride will take around 3 – 4 hours. There’re plenty of spots to rest including a few beers at Axedale pub.
This blog post is about the amazing scenery at Lake Eppalock and the man-made bridge which connects the O’Keefe Rail Trail. I’ve been over this bridge so many times in summer and seen little to no water in Eppalock. However, with recent heavy rainfall in the Bendigo region, the Lake was full and was spectacular to see from land as well as the air.
Watch on YouTube (HD) this short clip of the aerial view of O’Keefe Rail Trail and the bridge over Lake Eppalock.
